As I understand it, replacing the internal clock battery is a minor job, the
main work being opening up the machine to get to the battery, so probably
the job wouldnt require technicians skilled in complex service and overhaul
of vintage VCR's.

Subject: [ARSCLIST] Need Repair for Sony BetaCam SP player PVW 2800
Not one but three of my Betacam playback machines died today. This in my
workhorse for digitizing our massive collection of SP Beta tapes. It
appears the problem is the hour/minute meter located lower left behind the
control panel. Apparently there is a built in battery that was supposed to
last 5 years and lasted over 20. I'd never turned on the other 3 so who
knows when those died. Does ANYBODY know where or how to find parts? I'm
talking to the local video repair shops and audio equipment experts but
nothing yet
