I use ProTools on Macs, so it may not seem real to you. For me, the native plugin for Time Compression and Expansion (TCE) can shorten audio pretty much imperceptibly, especially in small amounts, such as 5 or 10 %. I have made CDs up to 79:55 with no problem.YMMV!
The most practical way to do what you want is so make two shorter CDs. Do take the replicator’s word for it; if you give too much material they won’t guarantee replacement for defective discs. Quality of replicated CDs does not implicate blank quality - duplicated CD-Rs do require top quality blanks, such as TY type.
Can you drop one song and eliminate the problem?

That comment was the genesis of my question. Should I be concerned? Can this be mitigated by a higher quality blank? Should I expect a percentage of CDs to exhibit playback problems on the first couple of tracks, and if so, are we talking about 5% or .05%?

But I know that to shrink an image file by an odd figure can leave some unpleasant artifacting, and I assume the same may be true for audio files as well. If I bought myself 20 seconds by squeezing the tracks, will that prove to be problematic? It probably would be for those with perfect pitch!
