Hi All,
I recently transferred 4 reels of AMPEX 478 that was SSS so beware.
As far as Qantegy is concerned:
When Quantegy took over the AMPEX facility, they sold some re-branded
AMPEX stock that has since gone bad. As I understand it, once the
production line was purged and Quantegy began producing stock with their
own formula (Starting with a revised AMPEX formula) the stock seemed OK.
Quantegy changed their formula a couple of times, getting completely
away from any AMPEX formulas, before closing their doors for good.
Cheers!
