I'm looking for an up to date tutorial introducing MARC fields, subfields, indicators, etc. to beginning catalogers. Got readings and PowerPoint presentations, and an Intranet search brings up plenty more, but would like something like a tutorial that gives newbies activity.
In preparing to train new graduate student assistants in cataloging, I discovered the link to the MARC 21 Tutorial I've used for some years is broken, http://www.lib.usm.edu/legacy/techserv/marc21_tutorial_ie/index.htm . University of Southern Mississippi Libraries replied to my broken link report that they decommissioned their tech services site and don't plan to rebuild it. Yep, I'd had to add caveats re: this tutorial as some info became out of date ('ignore 440 because we now use 490 + 8xx; 260 -> 264 with RDA') but there was enough valid info - and I'd not easily found a replacement - that I considered this old one worth using for introductory training.
