If you're not actually getting all the speed you're paying for, it makes sense to move to newer equipment. It's easy to test this with e.g. Speedtest.net (via Ethernet from your router, not WiFi). Even if you are getting all the speed you're paying for, or it seems like it, a newer modem may be beneficial in terms of relieving network congestion, both for you and for others. (Long term, it'll also enable higher speed tiers.)
