Ben,
Victrolac is a resinous plastic compound that is definitely NOT vinyl. All
Victor Program Transcriptions (except the very last ones) were made from it
and the first pressing of M-127 was also. The resin now leaches from the
compound. If you play the disc you may discover as soon as halfway through
that a blob of resin has attached itself to the stylus, which must be
carefully cleaned to remove it. This step may need to repeated often
depending on the condition of the plastic.
Victrolac discs must be transferred by a specialist. Therefore, you may
wish to re-consider the time required to attempt to do it yourself, as well
as the likely result based on your previous experience.
