I use Comcast at home. I like it. But I don’t trust Comcast. I bought my own modem (coupled with Apple’s router) when they raised the rental fee last time. It’s been working fine without a problem. They occasionally tell me that my modem is old and I’m not getting the speed I should be getting, but like your scenario, I don’t trust what Comcast says. It’s working extremely fast, so why change? Every 6 months, give or take a month, the time stamp on the TV service goes kooky and I chat with them to reset my cable box. They resist. I persist. And all goes right again.
Your internet provider might offer fibre optic, but you’ll need to have cables drawn into your office/residence. It might offer an alternative. I have it from ATT in my office. I think cable is better, but my office wasn’t wired for cable and ATT rewired me for free as they desperately wanted the business.
