Correct. Esoteric has been around for a long time and is run by a very nice guy named Mike Stosich. He also makes a Re-Equalizer, which applies various corrections to the line-level output of an RIAA preamp. It has 8 bass turnover, and 8 treble roll-off settings. If you don't have a phono preamp with variable EQ, this is a good solution to the problem.

The free, downloadable manual for the REQ III has a lengthy and useful section with recommended settings for various vintage records. They are, at the very least, a good starting point.
I have his Rek-O-Kut Rondine 3 in my studio at school. My only quibble is that the speed control is a little touchy, and normally use it in the variable mode so I can more precisely set to whatever speed I need. I always let the turntable warm up for a half hour, and then check the speed with a KAB SpeedStrobe, or a pitch reference, before doing a transfer.
The Rek-O-Kut products sold by Esoteric have nothing to do with the old and long-defunct turntable company of yesteryear. Esoteric somehow got the rights to the name and is using it to market their own, newly-designed products.
Best,
Gary

They are made and sold by esoteric sound in In Chicago, IL

We have the Rek-O-Kut Trovatore here in our archives. It works reasonably well. I wish the arm had an easier VTA adjust though.
