Dear friends:

Can anyone help me make sense of this page? I would like to know more about the recordings listed here:

 <https://kasetomanija.wordpress.com/2010/01/30/sefardski-i-orijentalni-jevreji-live-recordings-from-some-private-collection-of-jewish-songs-and-chorals/> https://kasetomanija.wordpress.com/2010/01/30/sefardski-i-orijentalni-jevreji-live-recordings-from-some-private-collection-of-jewish-songs-and-chorals/

Thanks to the EEFC list members, here are the cassette title and song titles transcribed:

Behar and Danon are mentioned in this book: <https://www.amazon.com/Wieviel-Wandel-vertr%C3%A4gt-eine-Tradition/dp/3487156040> https://www.amazon.com/Wieviel-Wandel-vertr%C3%A4gt-eine-Tradition/dp/3487156040

Danon and Levi appear in The Ankica Petrovic Collection, <https://oac.cdlib.org/findaid/ark:/13030/kt6f59s0xm/entire_text/> https://oac.cdlib.org/findaid/ark:/13030/kt6f59s0xm/entire_text/, Subseries 4.

Barnea is a well-known cantor in Israel and head of the Renanot Institute

Buzaglo has released a number of commercial recordings, also in Israel.

Does anyone recognize these contents from commercial or known field recordings? Or is this a one-off tape put together by a mysterious collector? The speculation over on the EEFC was that a Hebrew speaker had dictated the contents to someone who then transcribed it as you see (in Serbian?)

More broadly, these are the recordings I know of (on LP, CS and CD) originating in the former Yugoslavia. Does anyone know of additional recordings with even one Sephardic song? And I am trying to obtain physical copies of those highlighted in red for a research library I am assembling.

There were also various recordings made by emigres from that area and published abroad, such as those by Flory Jagoda and field recordings collected by Prof. Susana Weich-Shahak. Thanks for your time and for helping me fill in the blanks!

Warm regards,

Joel
