Why does the M3D have to be installed in the Ortofon headshell? The M3D has standard mounting holes and should fit in any standard headshell. The GE cartridge can also be installed in conventional headshells by simply drilling a hole in the top of the headshell for the push-and-turn shaft. You will have to solder the headshell wires to the non-standard GE pins.
