Using any kind of equalizer makes it difficult to get the right kind of curve.
Get this instead:

Page 13 shows 12 preset EQ curves to match a wide range of actual curves to fit the most
common EQ curves in use.
If that is not enough you can apply your own custom EQ to get the exact EQ to process any
disk ever made.
It will give a much better end result than any kind of adjustable equalizer aka tone control.
You can even undo the RIAA eq in your preamp and then apply the right eq for the record
to be processed.
And playback at 45 rpm any shellac 78 and then apply both speed correction an the correct EQ.
VERY useful indeed.
