Hi Doug,
What modern phono cartridge will take fiber stylii? None, that I know of. Fiber "needles" were a mixed bag. During the era of acoustic phonographs (which lasted practically to the end of the 78 era, especially in England), with their heavy "sound boxes," they did cause less wear than steel needles. But, the fibers would get ground into the groove, which caused an increase in surface noise. I know that Seth Winner has used regular truncated diamond stylii for aluminum discs.
I'm sure there will be other opinions offered on this subject.
Best,
Gary

We will be transferring some aluminum transcription discs. We understand that fiber needles are optimal. Does anyone have any leads on acquiring fiber styli?
Thanks
