Job description:
Under the direction of the Head of Acquisitions and Cataloging and in cooperation with department librarians and supervisors, the Catalog Librarian has responsibility for the description of historical sound recordings within the Special Collections Research Center's Belfer Audio Archive and sound materials in all formats in principal collections.
This position has significant supervisory responsibilities, as well as the production of original and complex copy cataloging in a variety of formats, languages and scripts.
The position also manages and assesses, including quality control verification, all outsourced cataloging projects, working closely with relevant vendors.
The Catalog Librarian works closely with the Curator of Recorded Sound and Media to catalog the collection of historical sound recordings, as well as providing support for outsourcing projects.
The Catalog Librarian is expected to use this work to contribute name authority records to the Name Authority Cooperative Program (NACO) of the Library of Congress and to apply the Libraries' capability to enhance master records for sound recordings in OCLC's international database, WorldCat.
