I've a copy of Allegro Royale 1611. Puccini. Soprano Solos. Symphony
Orchestra conducted by Hans Jergens-Walther.
It includes arias by sopranos whose work I know (and, in two cases, seen and
heard live.) They are Brenda Lewis and Lois Hunt. But the rest are unknown
to me and , mostly, quite good, vocally quite capable of having had
professional careers.
Schimenti is the Violetta in the Remington "Traviata." Hunt and Lewis were
at the Met- I saw Hunt as Musetta in a Boheme at a performance for students
way back when.
Here's the content:
Mary Henderson (Gianni Schicchi. O mio babbino caro)
Louis Hunt (Turandot. Signore ascolta; Rondine. Fanciulla, e sbocciato;
Boheme. Musetta's waltz)
Maria Leone (Butterfly. Un bel di, Death scene; Turandot. Death of Liu)
Brenda Lewis (Butterfly. Che tua madre)
Frances Schimenti (Boheme. Mi chimano Mimi; Addio)
Willa Stewart (Turandot. Del primo pianto; In questa reggia) Very
respectable
And here are the ones about whom I can't find anything:
Mary Henderson (Gianni Schicchi. O mio babbino caro) Pretty voice
Maria Leone (Butterfly. Un bel di, Death scene; Turandot. Death of Liu)
Good singer.
Willa Stewart (Turandot. Del primo pianto; In questa reggia) Very
respectable indeed.
Anyone have any info on these three?
