Very true, and that can also be done post the preamp or in the DAW
where if necessary, small gain changes can be made to optimally cancel
the noise component.

standard stereo. Then use a switching box to invert one channel.
Either that or invert in the DAW. Wired together limits the cart to
only vertical or lateral, plus there may be times we want channels
