Thanks Gary. I'm not using the razor blades for fresh edits but for leadering and reworking old splices. I've occasionally heard a bump artifact and wonder if the blades may be the culprit. The brand I've been using are "American Line" by Personna. The blades stick to magnets like crazy so I make my assumptions.

Hi Martin,
I'm still working from stock I bought from Polyline Corp back in the 1990s, so I haven't had to buy any. I did find these on line this morning:
https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.splicit.com/Reel-to-Reel-Audio-Editing-Single-Edge-Razor-Blade-p/rzb.htm__;!dmLIoeN9rD_2!vpCfBEVgI1fTI_RSkR9rfhhJEbzmqMiEsvWMfuqHsKVAh1Tv-rWE_roLl18f1gLI$
https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.tracertek.com/tape-splicing-razor-blades__;!dmLIoeN9rD_2!vpCfBEVgI1fTI_RSkR9rfhhJEbzmqMiEsvWMfuqHsKVAh1Tv-rWE_roLl8elXgGe$
TracerTek doesn't specifically say that they're stainless steel. I would assume that both are grease-free, but it's worth asking just to make sure.
I don't actually use a razor blade for tape cutting - I have a Nagy 25STS splicer that I've had for decades, and would not part with. It still makes clean, repeatable splices that are a symmetrical 45 degrees in either direction. It's very difficult to find these used, however.
Best,
Gary

Does anyone have a source for suitable single edged razor blades for tape editing (not attracted by a magnet) and/or pressure pad/spring assemblies for cassettes?
Thanks.
