Hi Eric,
If it has much hum, for public listening of an access copy probably
best to do a good dehum job *before* any subjective EQ of the
program. Otherwise we'd be tempted to EQ out the lows anyway to make
the listening bearable. Obviously, EQ out everything outside the
wanted program.
If it has a lot of hum it doesnt say much for those who originally cut
the recording. Didnt they monitor as they were cutting? Even a
recording level meter would normally indicate a gross hum.

Subject:[ARSCLIST] Gallotone 78rpm eq
Hello,
I am digitizing a South African Gallotone 78 rpm. It was manufactured
in
Great Britain.
I can't find anything in the lists that I have for the various eq
curves
about the suggested settings for Gallotone 78 rpms. Another problem
is
that the record has been recorded with a lot of hum.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
