No way they're electric if he died in 1913. What is the contents, and what label are they on?

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [ARSCLIST] Erich J. Wolff Lieder Album of 18 Songs Columbia Set # 268
Recently I've acquired 2 volumes of 78 rpm discs of Erich J. Wolff singing and accompanying himself on piano. Wolff died March 20th 1913. How is it the recordings are the way they are? I mean, they are as good as contemporary mid century ones. Wouldn't they be acoustic? They appear to sound electric.
