Actually the same YT channel has a 26 minute highlights edit of this
same 1980 match with excellent mono
So I guess whoever digitally edited this in 2017 somehow managed to
delay or advance one of the (dual mono) digital audio tracks by a
few frames... then summed to mono.. then somehow didnt hear the
resulting dreadful audio.
The original 4:3 aspect ratio was also stretched out to widescreen,
making the players look a lot more unfit than they actually were. It
seems the editor was having a bad day...

Yes, people forget different path lengths from sound source to summed
microphones equals a comb filter.
Sports audio is a whole other thing which does not excite me.
