I read somewhere about unique record recordings being too fragile to
play. Maybe here on this list Anyway they took an image / scan of the
grooves and then passed this through an image processor and clever s/w
which turned the grooves into sound files. I've also heard of another
system where they use a turntable with a laser rather than a needle to
track the grooves. CJB
