Hello Ben,
There is a program called Waveform Free that I mention because it is designed to be intuitive for new users. The paid products from this company are also free for educational institutions.
It is made by a company called Tracktion. https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free

Thanks, Mickey!
One of my very old laptops has Cakewalk 6 which I love.
I guess I'll get the latest Cakewalk for my Windows 10 laptop.
I hear it's free.
Thanks!
Regards,
Ben
