The Recorded Sound Program Manager (Section Head, Recorded Sound) VAR001568 vacancy announcement opens today, Wednesday, June 9, 2021 and closes on Monday, July 12, 2021.
The Section Head is responsible for the management and direction of the Section. Sets priorities, directs the work activities of Section staff (both government and contract), and manages the technical and financial resources allocated to the Section to achieve its goals. Oversees all acquisition, processing, preservation prioritization, reference, and exhibition activities of the Section and serves as the Library's principal specialist in recorded sound. Responsible for implementing the digital preservation of audio materials. The section head oversees digital projects such as the National Jukebox and the writing of blogs, LibGuides and other online resources as well as audio heritage and collection-based programming and exhibits for staff and the public. He/she serves as a member of the Division's management team, which includes planning, implementation and on-going operations for the National Audio Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC).
