Thanks so very much for your counsel, suggestions and analysis of what I
reported. I'm most appreciative for your caution about using the cleaning
tapes. I did not know how fragile DAT heads are.
I'm no ace going under the hood of these things, but I did have this deck
open once to replace a small belt, so I should be able to reach the heads
and clean them with the specialized tips.
Richard, I'll look at the links you've provided.
What has me reeling at the moment is imagining that Dave Radlauer was ever
"callow."
