Also keep in mind that care and feeding of the tape cassette itself it
critical to avoiding tape errors.
Tapes should only be removed from a machine fully rewound to the end or
start. Removing and handling otherwise (which most of us did in our callow
youth) is how dirt, creases and fingerprints foul tape surfaces, possibly
irreparably.
