Thank you to all who replied regarding the ipod and itunes.

What we ended up doing to give him access to all of his music without 
paying too much was to buy him Imatch ($25 /year).

 From what I can see storage here does not ipmact his Icloud storage 
space because in fact you don't actually know if it your material you 
are hearing.

 From what I understand your material goes into a collective and if not 
unique, it is tossed and you are linked to the best match in the 
collective. Hence Apple does not store 10,000+ copies of "born to run" 
in the cloud.

In a sense you are sharing your material for free (Apple decides who 
gets it).

I told the gentleman we would not upload any therapist/ seance session / 
or taped phone calls with his departed mom because all of this could e 
made public without his consent.

He also showed up with 180 CD's he wanted uploaded so he could access 
them them on all of his devices and left his new Ipad and Iphone here so 
someone could hist the download button for all 180 albums so they would 
be available with no wifi.

I found the logic of what was going one was not apparent from the menu 
selections which will all be forgotten within a month.

I have a feeling if he  ever re-sync's his iphone to a local machine in 
the future a lot of this could become undone -

I actually got one of my com-sci sons to sit on a browser and find out 
what to do.

Loading the CD's to imatch is time consuming, but low labour, drop it in 
and walk away. Additionally we are accumulating th linear pcm files on a 
local portable drive.
