Subject: Re: [ARSCLIB] advice on shipping of lacquer discs
Christina,
What is the base material under the lacquer coating? Aluminum? Glass? Other? This makes a big difference with respect to shipping.

Where I am currently working about 110 lacquer discs are going to be most likely shipped to (as opposed to picked up by) a vendor for digitization. About 2 dozen of them are flaking, cracking, delaminating.
We do plan to ask the vendor for shipping advice, and I have received some info / advice from someone else about their experience. However, I am looking for additional experience and advice (to have as many ideas as possible to make a decision) while I wait to hear what vendor has been selected to conserve and digitize these records. Just trying to get some details, best advice, experience, etc compiled regarding shipping lacquer discs safely.
Thanks!
