Hi,
As you may know, after Pres Cleveland left office, he still had a daughter (his eldest child) named Ruth, born in 1891. Her name was utilized, by way of explanation, by the Curtiss Candy Co in 1921 ('Baby Ruth').
But she had died in 1904 from Diphtheria, and it was a shock to many people at the time. One wonders if there was perhaps some sheet music, or a sound recording, of that sad event (given his fame).
BestAllen.

Subject: [ARSCLIST] Audio news report about diphtheria?
Hi Arsclist,
I'm looking for any audio from around 1925 (or a bit before is fine too)
that discusses the disease diphtheria -- maybe a PSA, or a doctor's
warning, or reporters talking about the dangers of the disease on the news.
The dream would be to find something that mentions how deadly the disease
is to children. (It's also called Strangling Angel, or the Strangler,
colloquially).
Does anyone have suggestions on where to look? What archives are the best
to look for sound that far back in history? In the 20s?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Sarah
