Hi all.
For some, reading anything historical might help people go to
sleep, but I hope most, or all of you, get to read the article I wrote;
/Serendipitous Road to ARSC, /for the ARSC Journal about the beginnings
of quite an industry of information, publications, and preservation,
leading to the founding of ARSC in 1966, and eventually, bringing all
the activity together in the/Encyclopedia of Recorded Sound in the
United States,/ edited by Guy Marco, 1993.
At the age of 87, this work may be my last presentation, i.e., my
last lecture on Research; on how things come to be and how research
works its way to great things.
Back at the 50th anniversary meeting, the question was "What can,
we who are not connected to an institution, do and help the
organization, and how can the organization help us members?
I think the basic answer to both, given where my path took me;
"Research _wherever_ it takes you."
Best wishes, to all of you.
