Hello EAD --
I forgot to mention why we posted some deliberately "naive-user"
viewpoint questions and answers re SGML/EAD last week: to help in developing
application guidelines and training programs.
We've got good support here at LC in the National Digital Library
program for sorting out things like "P&P" tricks. Anne's also keeping
observation notes on all we had to ask about, and, the things we wondered
about but were able to solve for ourselves. It seems useful to reveal
what we two (experienced finding aid compilers who use lots of different
databases and wordprocessing systems) trip over when meeting SGML software
for the first time with EAD. Sure, I have an advantage from participating
in the EAD meetings at Ann Arbor and LC, but I also asked Anne to work
pretty much alone with a finding aid and the tag library for the first few
weeks to see what kinds of questions came up.
Although we have to take a break from tagging for about a week,
we'll check back in when have some more questions or ideas to compare.
