In reference to the Alien evolution topic:

Being a picky biologist, I would like to point out a theory of defense
evolution: coevolution or the proverbial arms race. The "effort" refered to
in the comment above would not have occured all at once but little by little.
For example, in response to an increase in a prey's outer armor, the alien may
have developed a projectile mouth with teeth to penetrate the armor. A slow
build up of weapons between prey and predator. It is probably save to say
that on the Aliens' home world there are other conscious, thinking
beings....either prey or competitors....that upped the ante of evolution to
demand pack behavior and the seemingly intelligent persona of the aliens. I
think a movie about the Alien's homeworld would be more interesting than any
sequel about the humans verses the Aliens no matter how many dead characters
they clone and bring back!
