How about the Earthsea books by Ursula K. Le Guin, the works of Patricia
McKillip ("The Throme of the Erril of Sherrill (sp?)) ? If she like Narnia,
then certainly there's "The Hobbit" or the various Oz books by Baum,
Thompson, et al. I know there are others.
