Permit me to put ditto marks under Dan Reid's comments on Miller and
Leiber. _Canticle_ was an extraordinary achievement. And while I
never went so far as Harlan Ellison, who claimed that Leiber should
have won the Nobel Prize for literature, I know of no other writer in
SF who wrote so many different types of stories so well. In addition
to the stories Dan mentioned, note "Coming Attraction," in Vol. 1
of _The Science Fiction Hall of Fame_, a story which may well have
marked the starting point of modern, post-Campbell SF.
And I like _Neuromancer_ an awful lot too.
