The Author is the first thing that I look for when buying books, but a catchy
cover may get me to pick up a book by an author I have not previously read.
The summary on the back cover and grabber in the front is what makes me
decide to buy or not.
The worst thing a publisher can do, in my opinion, is include nothing but
comments from others in the industry or from critics, without telling me
something about the book/story. I don't care what others say, I will make my
own decisions after I start the book. If I don't like the book, I may never
buy that author again, regardless of the cover or story.
