Oops. Sorry about the mix-up on 2001, but I think I made my point. As
for Blade Runner and Star Wars, my point was not that the films were at all
similar, but rather that it was the phenomenal success of Star Wars that made
studios desperate for the next sf cash cow. I think that there is a very
good chance that Blade Runner would not have been made (or at least not made
in the same manner) had Star Wars not blown out the box office.
