Bob, some suggestions:
Connie Willis's (love it or hate it) _Doomsday Book_--some great graphics
scenes, and a good many scenes of pathos that would probably translate well
to pen and ink
Michael Bishop's _No Enemy but Time_--ditto
Silverberg's Majipoor sequence (_Lord Valentine's Castle_, _Majipoor
Chronicles_, _Valentine Pontifex_, another one to be released later this
year)--*long*, but TERRIFIC potential for heart-catching vistas and
eye-popping aliens
Jonathan Lethem's _Gun, with Occasional Music_--if it weren't so
well-written, I'd be almost disappointed that it wasn't a graphic novel first
Zelazny's _Lord of Light_ and/or _Creatures of Light and Darkness_--because
they're so damn colorful to begin with
Patricia Anthony's _Brother Termite_--because I think it could use wider
exposure and because it would fit in very well with the current
"X-Files_-inspired wave of "grey"-mania
Let me know if you try adapting any of these. I'd love to see them!
