My first choice is to go with an author an I know and love but that is not
the only way to pick a book. If I am looking for a new author than the
cover
art does determine if I pick it up or not sometimes. Usually though I don't
see the cover art until I pick it up...most book are lined up on the shelf
together with only their spines showing. The title and the legibility of
the
spine are my first indication of whether to pick it up or not. I tend to
look for an interesting title....therefore if the spine is illegible I don't
usually bother. Afterall, there are thousands of books on the shelf with
legible titles!! Once the title attracts my attention then I read the
blurbs
from the back and inside. The cover is actually the last thing I look at
unless it is a book on a special display.
There are my 2 cents worth!
