Last summer we tried to locate copies of library policy and procedure
manuals which would help us plan how to structure and update our manual.
Unfortunately, we could find only one library willing and able to send us
their manual.
I am still soliciting manuals if you have one, but I'm also wondering why
more manuals were not forthcoming. Are policy and procedure manuals a
thing of the past, is your manual too out of date to share, does the task
of updating it keep ending up on the bottom of your priority list, is your
manual a victim of downsizing?
I am also interested in whether anyone has created an electronic version of
their policy and procedure manual that is mounted on a LAN or an Intranet
for library-wide access. I hope to create such a document, with hypertext
links, for our library. Any advice that you have for me is appreciated.
