JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
WLN, a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Lacey, WA is
seeking a "Library Technician 3" to join its professional
technical services staff. WLN's quality technical services and
outsourcing departments are experiencing rapid growth and are
looking to add an experienced, flexible, production-oriented,
highly skilled employee to capitalize on this opportunity.
The successful applicant will search and identify the WLN Online
system and other catalogs available via the Internet for
cataloging copy. The techs will also catalog materials using
close copy from the WLN Online System, source documents, Library
of Congress, Research Libraries Information Network, and other
Z39.50 platforms available via the Internet. Other duties may
include assigning Dewey Decimal or LC Classification numbers;
adding, modifying or deleting customer holdings, and preparing
statistical and quality control reports.
To qualify, the applicant should have a minimum of 2 years
library technical experience or an AAS degree in Library
technology and 1 year library experience. Experience in a
cataloging/technical services operation is desirable. Knowledge
of Windows, Windows based software applications, and MARC
bibliographic format are also required.
For 19 years, WLN has provided a broad range of innovative, high-
quality products and services to libraries of all types and sizes
throughout the US and around the world. These services include a
full-service online MARC bibliographic database (with
acquisitions, cataloging, and interlibrary loan subsystems and a
linked authority file), a CD-ROM version of the database, as well
as database preparation and authority control service (the WLN
MARC Record Service). WLN is a full level Internet service
provider.
WLN is offering a competetive salary ($1,800-$2,400 per month,
full-time), commensurate with experience and qualifications,
accompanied by an excellent, comprehensive benefits package.

Description:
Searches and identifies the WLN Online system and other

Qualifications:
2 years library technical experience or AAS degree in Library
technology and 1 year library technical experience.
Experience in a cataloging/technical services operation
required.
Type 40 wpm.
Knowledge of Windows and Windows based software applications
such as: Word and Excel.
Knowledge of MARC bibliographic format.
Attention to detail and excellent proofreading ability.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and work
independently.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a rapidly changing work
environment.
Desirable:
Word processing experience.
Experience with local systems or an automated bibliographic
system.
