Job Opening for a Library Manager
MALCOLM PIRNIE, INC.
Environmental Engineers, Scientists and Planners
White Plains, New York
Malcolm Pirnie, Inc. has an immediate full-time opening for a Library
Manager. The successful applicant will have an M.S. degree in Library
Science from an ALA accredited program, and at least 3 years experience
managing a technical library. Must have supervisory experience,
excellent interpersonal and organizational, analytical, and problem
resolution skills, flexibility and strong initiative. Ability to work
successfully both independently and as part of a team and be an advocate
for the library. Knowledge and experience using PCs with a Windows
environment, and proficiency with Internet and Intranet.
Technical expertise in the following areas is required:
-Computer based library tools and knowledge of government documents,
including environmental and health and safety legislation
-Reference services including online database searching
-Computerized circulation systems,
-Cataloging, indexing and organization of non-book materials
-Serials handling
-Documents release and referral services
-Interlibrary loan tools and services
-Circulation of library materials
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Develop and implement library vision and firm-wide library information
systems service
-Perform project-related literature searches
-Compile lists of publications with information on specific subject
matters
-Conduct online computer searches using DIALOG and other technical data
bases
-Assist individuals in finding specific references
-Assist individuals in doing their own research
-Select and acquire library materials
-Maintain/enhance collection and archives
-Develop and implement a program to make the library a company-wide
online information resource
-Increase staff awareness of library services
-Supervise a staff of 2 and oversee all daily departmental procedures
