MISSISSIPPI LIBRARY COMMISSION

The Mississippi Library Commission's Board of Commissioners is seeking
qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director. The state
agency, headquartered in Jackson, works with public, academic, school, and
special libraries.
The Executive Director reports to a 5 member board and is responsible for a
staff of 63 and a $9.8 million budget and $2 million telecommunication bond
project. The director's responsibilities include strategic planning, working
closely with state legislators to seek annual appropriations, and advocating
library-related legislation on a state and national level.
Minimum Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS. A minimum of two years as an
administrative librarian or director of state or public library.
Preferred Qualfiications: 10 years progressively professional library and
managerial experience, knowledge and competencies in working with fiscal
management, state and/or federal funded library programs, and library
technological advances. Strong communication skills desirable.
Salary: $58,000. Excellent benefits.
