Now, let's forget for a moment the more serious issues.
I have devised a small game, and I hope you all will enjoy it.
Imagine you are a film producer. You have plenty of money to produce
a film derived from the Sf novel or short story you like best. For
some mysterious reason you have a *complete* freedom of choice because
it seems all Hollywood stars want to play even the smallest part in
your film. You are also sure (due to a huge effort of marketing
research) that the average cinema-goers are so tired of stuff like ID4
that they crave for a film with a story and some meaning, so that you can
afford the risk of being totally faithful to the plot of the book you have
choosen (you want to make a series based on Dune, let's say 12 films?
You can!). You already have the best screenwriter and the best director
(Kubrick? ok, it's Kubrick)--but now you have to choose the actors. And
you can also choose dead actors because a new computer system allows
you to have Tom Mix, Francesca Bertini, Eric von Stroheim, Charles
Laughton, or whoever you like in your film, acting with other living
actors you have chosen.
But please, avoid totally unknown actors, or at least tell us some
film where we can have seen them. If you answer: "well, Roger Y.
Bumpkin plays the part of Leto Atreides" other people could have
trobles in visualizing the scenes...
So let's see some proposal. Just write the title of the novel/story
you have chosen, its author, the cast, and the roles you want them to play.
(Mr. Bjostad has the opportunity to tell us what is the Starship
Troopers cast *he* would have liked!--Yuk, yuk)
