ECRI, a nonprofit health services research agency and publisher
is seeking qualified candidates to join growing team of
information professionals. Currently, we have two open
positions:
(1) Database Manager/Editor for international database of health
care standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree in
library/ information science desired. Familiarity with medical
and technical literature and related controlled vocabularies
essential, along with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
Previous database management and publishing experience required.
Excellent organizational and communication skills as well as a
demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects and work with
multidisciplinary staff. This position requires flexibility and
high commitment to organization objectives, which are to improve
the safety and efficacy of healthcare.
Key responsibilities of position include managing the
publication, development, and day-to-day maintenance of the
Healthcare Standards database and annual print directory,
writing/editing the Healthcare Standards Update newsletter, and
supervising staff.

(2) Nomenclature Specialist for ECRI's Universal Medical Device
Nomenclature System (UMDNS), a controlled vocabulary for medical
device concepts that is used in thousands of institutions
worldwide and has recently been adopted by the European Union as
the interim standard medical device vocabulary.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; background in
information and/or life science preferred. Experience in
maintaining and using controlled vocabularies required, along
with solid research and communication skills.
Key responsibilities include managing UMDNS licensee database and
distribution, researching new concepts for inclusion in UMDNS,
database maintenance, providing support for foreign language
translation of UMDNS, developing content for UMDNS User Manual,
and supporting inclusion of UMDNS in the National Library of
Medicine's Unified Medical Language System (UMLS).
