This position represents a unique opportunity for an individual looking to
develop their
professional skills within a creative organization which integrates the
staff and functions
of the traditional areas of library, computing, telecommunications and
instructional media
services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and scheduling of
the ISS's
comprehensive training program in support of all facets of ISS operations. The
coordinator will work closely with the head of User Services and Technical
Services in
developing an appropriate training program to meet the needs of the University
community.
This staff member designs and teaches classes, serving as one of the key ISS
instructors
in the area of bibliographic instruction, electronic resources, and various
applications
programs (Microsoft Office). This staff member provides leadership in
developing/maintaining the bibliographic instruction program which addresses
issues of
information literacy. This position is responsible for the development and
production of
end user documentation; the development and administration of needs
assessment tools
and evaluation instruments. This staff member is expected to serve as a
member of
several pertinent university committees and build working relationships
within the
various University constituents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess hands-on teaching experience, a
demonstrated
ability to assimilate easily new technologies and software applications and
their use in a
higher education environment. In particular s/he must possess knowledge of
bibliographic instruction and information literacy in an electronic environment.
S/he must possess good communication and interpersonal skills; courteous
customer
support skills; strong problem solving skills; and excellent organizational
skills. Master's
degree in related area required.
