FLICC Meeting Announcement 9713
1997 FLICC Information Technology Update
Spinning the Intranet Web
Intranets are the focus of this year's FLICC Information Technology
Update. Please join us to learn how intranets work, why your agency is
likely to be installing one, and how the library can participate. The
program features two instructors and two demonstrations. Greg Bean, an
Internet/Intranet instructor with Johns Hopkins University and presenter
at Internet World, will teach us about the technical aspects of intranets
what they are, how they are installed, telecommunications and security
questions, and so forth. Denise Duncan, from Logistics Management Inc.,
will guide us through the planning and management associated with getting
an intranet started and keeping it running, and will report on her recent
study of the intranets that have been implemented in the Executive branch.
We will also see first-hand the intranets that are in place at the Naval
War College and the FCC.
