LaGrange College, located one hour west of Atlanta in LaGrange,
Georgia, will host "Slipstreaming and the Arts: Science Fiction
and Beyond," a conference celebrating the impact of Science Fiction
and Fantasy Literature upon contemporary culture, on April 11-13,
1997. The conference will feature panel discussions and readings
from the following authors: Dale Bailey, Michael Bishop (Writer-
in-Residence at LaGrange College), F. Brett Cox, Karen Joy Fowler,
Kathleen Ann Goonan, Ann Kennedy, John Kessel, James Morrow, Lewis
Shiner, and Jeff VanderMeer. There will also be a photographic
exhibition and slide lecture by world-renowned photographer
Jerry Uelsmann, excerpts from _On the Verge_ by the LaGrange
College Theatre Arts Department, and a musical concert of
works of Sasha Matson and Elinor Armor based upon texts by
Ursula K. Le Guin and Michael Bishop.
