POSITION: Serials Librarian
Wright State University Libraries' is seeking an energetic
creative, and flexible individual to serve in the Technical
Services Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Head of the
Technical Services Department, is responsible for all
aspects of serials operations for the University Libraries.
Manage public service desk in the current periodicals room
in the Dunbar Library. Monitor work of serials check-in
staff. Superintend bindery operations for the Dunbar and
Fordham Libraries. Assist in the development of
departmental policies and procedures. Supervise staff of
5.5 FTE.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS or related
Masters degree. Minimum of two years library technical
services experience, preferably in serials. Preferred:
Demonstrated successful supervisory experience; record of
service orientation; experience with automated library
systems, particularly with serials and acquisitions
applications; experience with bibliographic utilities,
particularly OCLC; knowledge of MARC formats; current
knowledge of national trends in library technical services.
Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to
collaborate and lead a team; demonstrated interest in
working effectively within a culturally diverse academic
community; excellent oral and written communication skills;
demonstrated planning abilities; ability to deliver work on
deadline; ability to cope with multiple demands; ability to
adapt to change and produce results in a persuasive and
timely manner; interest in personal scholarly achievement
and professional development.
ENVIRONMENT: The Wright State University Libraries comprise
the Paul Laurence Dunbar Library, which serves the needs of
the general academic community, and the Fordham Health
Sciences Library, which serves the need of the School of
Medicine, the School of Nursing, and the School of
Professional Psychology. The Libraries provide an
integrated scholarly information network, LIBNET, that
incorporates local, state, and Internet resources. The
University is a member of OhioLINK, an advanced statewide
information system. Wright State University, located 10
miles east of Dayton, Ohio, enrolls over 16,000 students and
offers a comprehensive program of study with doctorates in
five fields. With nearly a million people, the Dayton area
features a rich quality of life and a wide diversity of
cultural and recreational activities.
SALARY: $33,180 (Minimum). Benefits include 22 vacation
days/year, 10 holidays, health and dental plan, state
retirement system, and paid life and disability insurance.
