It's already often difficult to keep up with the off-topic threads, especially
since they seem to come in bunches. I'll catch up on all my email and go back
an hour later and have thirty new messages, most of which are on some thread or
other that's often past the point of being beaten to death. It's hard to keep
the signal to noise ratio high, and I appreciate Mrs. Stumbaugh's efforts to
keep the list from turning into the USENET.
You might try starting another list; it's easier for interested parties to
subscribe to multiple lists than for everyone else to weed through a lot of
extra posts looking for the sf content. I know it can be hard to detect tone
over email, but I'm not intending this to be rude; I'm quite serious about
the idea of an extra list. Perhaps SF-LIT-d...
