Position: Department Head
Technical Services
Responsibilities: Overall administrative direction with budgetary
responsibility for the Library Systems and
Operations Department consisting of cataloging
and classification; acquisitions, serials;
conservation and preservation; and library
technologies. Leadership in planning,
implementing and evaluating departmental
services. Duties also include report writing;
project planning and management, and liaison to
other University departments. Participation in
the Libraries' training programs is expected.
Qualifications: Required: MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited
library/information science program. Three years
administrative experience with demonstrated
proficiency in a technical services area.
Expertise with integrated library systems,
and bibliographic utilities and networks.
Evidence of strong communication and
organizational skills. Ability to work with
all personnel in a collegial, consultive,
collaborative team environment.
Preferred: Additional master's degree or an earned
doctorate; experience with Z39 and document
delivery systems, Intel, UNIX and Novell.
Salary: This position is a non-faculty, administrative,
12-month appointment. Salary is dependent upon
qualifications, $45,000 minimum, with attractive
benefits.
