POSITION AVAILABLE: CATALOG LIBRARIAN
The Dayton and Montgomery County Public Library (Ohio) is accepting
applications for a full time cataloger.
Responsibilities: Original and copy cataloging of books and serials.
Authority work and some database maintenance. Assists with the development
and implementation of local procedures. Assists with some staff training.
Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS plus 2 years cataloging experience.
Knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, MARC, OCLC, Dewey, and an integrated online catalog.
Strong automation and organizational skills. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills. A demonstrated commitment to customer service in the
technical services environment.
Starting salary: $31,117 (with an MLS). Excellent fringe benefits including
a choice of health insurance plans. 22 days vacation, 15 days sick leave,
and 12 paid holidays annually.
Dayton is an attractive city with a low cost of living. It is one of the
nation's largest 90 minute markets. The city offers a surprising variety
of cultural and educational institutions, including nine colleges and
universities within a twenty mile radius.
