USMARC CODE LIST CHANGES FOR HONG KONG AND CONGO
Two changes will be incorporated to the _USMARC Code List for
Countries_ because of political developments.
As a result of the return of Hong Kong to China's rule, the
USMARC country code for Hong Kong is being revised. Previously it
was coded [hk] (Hong Kong); it will now be included under China
[cc].
The caption for the former Zaire is being changed to Congo
(Democratic Republic); however, the country code [cg] will remain
the same.
The codes for both countries will remain the same in the
_USMARC Code List for Geographic Areas_.
